✨Tell us a little about The Mamahood Space and why you started it.

The Mamahood Space was born out of my own struggles in motherhood. I went through a really tough time, feeling completely overwhelmed, and I remember thinking—I don’t want another mom to have to navigate motherhood feeling this alone. Motherhood is supposed to bring joy and happiness, but when you’re isolated, especially as a new parent, things can quickly spiral out of control.

Shortly before giving birth to my second child, after the challenges of COVID, I knew I had to do something about it. My vision was clear: to combat social isolation and support all moms who feel like they’re going through motherhood alone. I wanted to create a strong sense of community, where moms could connect, feel supported, and know they weren’t alone.

✨ What was the biggest challenge in making this happen?

The biggest challenge is that there simply aren’t enough hours in the day to bring my full vision to life. Funding is limited, and because this is a self-funded project, I’m constantly juggling a million other things. It’s hard when you’re always pouring into others but rarely having your own cup refilled.

I’ve had to remind myself that burnout is real, and slowing down isn’t failure—it’s necessary. Taking care of myself is just as important as supporting others.

Because The Mamahood Space is only one person (myself) it sometimes gets overwhelming and there is always that feeling that I’m getting things wrong.

✨What tip do you have for moms coming out of the newborn stage?

You’ve survived the stage everyone loves. (Where there isn’t that much to do).

Now, get ready for the real challenges ahead! Adjusting takes time, and every stage of motherhood brings its own ups and downs. But I promise—it’s all worth it.

✨What is your favourite local service supporting moms (other than the one you’re involved in)?

I love all the services that support moms! Each one brings its own perspective, but collectively, they’re all working towards the same goal—helping mothers through every stage of their journey.

✨Give us one non-parent fact about yourself.

I have a Forest School qualification

✨What’s one thing you’d most want to be known for by your great-granddaughters?

That I championed maternal mental health with passion, broke barriers along the way, and in the process, rediscovered myself.
